1-What are penalties?

– As a Jumia vendor, you agreed with the Terms and Conditions to have the right to sell on Jumia. If you don’t respect them, Jumia may apply a penalty to your account.

– The objective of penalties is two-fold:

  •   Protect customers from receiving wrong items and being unsatisfied.
  •   Protect you from losing sales and potential customers.

2-How do penalties work?

– How to pay?

You don’t have to pay cash a penalty, fees will be directly retained on your Seller Center Account.

– Why do you pay?

Quality Check fail penalty – applied when the product fails the Quality Check at the drop-off hub.

Return penalty – applied when a customer returns back an item for a quality reason.

Out of Stock (OOS) penalty – applied when OOS happened.

Counterfeit – applied when you sell counterfeit products on Jumia.

3-How much do you pay?

– Quality Check fail penalty – 100EGP if different color or size, 200 EGP if broken or used…

– Return penalty:

Return for poor product quality – 60 EGP

Return for non-compliant item – 60 EGP

– OOS penalty:

Cancellation due to an OOS declared in less than 24 hours – 25% of the item commission with a minimum of 5 EGP and a Maximum of 25 EGP.

Cancellation due to an OOS declared between 24 & 48 hours – 50% of the item commission with a minimum of 5 EGP and a Maximum of 25 EGP.

– Counterfeit penalty:

1st attempt – You receive a warning email and are encouraged to remove all fake items immediately.

Second attempt – Fake items will be removed and you incur a penalty of 4000 EGP.

Third attempt – Fake items will be removed, you incur an additional penalty of 4000 EGP and your account will be suspended for two weeks.

Fourth attempt – You incur another additional 4000 EGP penalty and your account will be permanently removed from Jumia.
